  • Open Source System Symposium

    On Thursday, October 1, 2020, We Are All Creative for Technology and Development Organization, in cooperation with the International Youth Council, implemented a symposium entitled “Open Source System” in the presence of a group of engineers, businessmen, and university graduates with technical specialties. The symposiums them focused on creating an environment for open source systems in Yemen. Where the members of the training team in the Creative Open Source Community _COSC section of the Organization We Are All Creative took turns to clarify the programming problems that open-source system provides appropriate solutions to them, after the welcome speech that the engineer / Wafa Al-Ariqi, CEO of We Are All Creative, started the Symposium and explained the importance of Keeping up with technology, awareness and community qualification in the field of technology in general and using an open system in particular, and she mentioned that the organization will start implementing a technical training program for various categories of engineers to train them within an academic and practical framework that combines the technical and technological side to give them the opportunity for technical production and the formation of a pioneering idea that can be shared with others. In the future, it may be one of the reasons for the country’s economic growth rate Through knowledge, it turned into an idea, and then the tools and possibilities of transforming this idea into reality in the form of programs or systems, then Eng. Saeed Al-Obaidi addressed the importance of an open-source system for businessmen and its positive impact on developing institutional work. The symposium also touched on the uses of the open-source system in The development of robots and mechatronics throughout history, as the engineer / Haitham Al-Selwi simulated that development that many engineers and programmers in the world shared in the achievement, and the great impact of this on the service of humanity, the last of which was the system for respirators during the (Covid 19) pandemic

    Engineer / Abdullah Rawah explained how open-source system has greatly contributed to the development of informational networks by means of the SDN, and he explained the solutions provided by the open-source system to the problems of giant networks. Engineer / Muhib Ghallab also explained how that system contributed to increasing the security of information and data. Classify the types of licenses used to regulate the use of the open-source system.

    Eng. Amal Sinan also classified open-source system into service programs, search engines, languages ​​, and programming platforms, and presented the most important open-source system according to the global program classification in the year 2020 AD.

    Eng. Ahmed Shaiea concluded the symposium by listing the positive effects of open-source systems on Yemeni society.The symposium included many discussions and questions related to the topic, and some programming problems were raised from the attendees, and appropriate solutions and advice were developed by the lecturing engineers using open-source systems.The symposium was attended by a group of engineers, the Director of Projects and Maintenance at the Public Telecommunication Corporation, Eng.     Three Technical Projects Win The Tech Entrepreneurs Competition … Which Were Won By The Governorates Of Sana’a, Aden And Taiz

    Three contestants from the governorates of Sana’a, Aden and Taiz won the first places, at the end of the activities of the Technical Entrepreneur Competition (Technology Community) nationwide, organized by the We All Development Technology Creators Organization in Sana’a on the occasion of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 9 November 2020

    The engineer Ahmed Muhammad Ahmad Ismail, who resides in Sanaa, won first place for his project, the Smart Hat, which is a smart assistant based on artificial intelligence for the visually impaired, this device enables visually impaired people to see the world through hearing.

    

    Engineer Yasser Aref Abd Rabbo Salem, who resides in Aden, won second place for his project to develop electric chairs for people with special needs, so that those who suffer from complete disability, quadriplegia or severely injured people can control these chairs without anyone’s help.

    

    The third place went to Eng. Abdul-Moamen Abdullah Fazaahez, who resides in Taiz governorate, for his project, an intelligent irrigation system that relies on artificial intelligence algorithms and the Internet of Things, with the aim of reducing water rationing and making use of green energy in developing agricultural products.

    

    Where their projects obtained the highest marks out of 8 projects that qualified for the final stage by the jury that consisted of Dr. Sharaf Al-Kebsi, Professor / Ghamdan Anbar, Professor Hashem Nidal, Professor Ahmed Al-Ariqi, Professor Khalil Al-Asbahi and Professor Ali Hanina, in addition to the participation of the present audience. By voting for projects. The holders of the first three places won the Excellence Shield from the All-Creators Technology Development Organization and an amount of two million riyals for each winner provided by Wataniya for financing in addition to $ 1,000 financial grants – provided by Al-Amal Bank through the Entrepreneurial and Financial Inclusion project supported by the European Union and Silatech, and the Ultimate Shop system ( Ultimate Shop) from Yemen Soft, and the Odoo ERP system with hosting for a year from Cortex, as well as designing their sites with what suits the requirements of their projects with hosting for a year from Invit Core.

    While the other projects – five projects – received a certificate of honor from the We Are All Creators Organization, and the Financial Inclusion Awards for Entrepreneurs from Al-Amal Bank and the Ultimate Shop system from Yemen Soft Company.

    Other prizes will remain for 22 projects that qualified for the pre-final stage out of 266 participants in the competition, and their names will be announced in the coming days. Engineer Wafaa Al-Ariqi, Executive Director of the Organization for All of the Creators of Technology Development, praised in a press statement the efforts of the authorities and institutions that supported this competition and their national role in supporting youth in a way that contributes to real development that encourages creativity and innovation, and she singled out the national mention of funding, Al-Amal Bank, YemenSoft, Cortex, and Invit Cor.

    Al-Ariqi pointed out that the competition was very strong and the projects that qualified are very excellent and carry creativity and creative ideas and have humanitarian, service and development aspects that will have a return on the nation and its progress, which confirms that Yemeni youth are creative and have the ability to innovate in an amazing way, adding that this competition is a highlight and encouragement to proceed. To move forward in achieving success in a way that serves development in various fields.

    Engineer Wafaa Al-Ariqi confirmed that she will work with all supporters and sponsors to make this competition an annual tradition so that young men and women have more opportunity to market their projects and creativity, noting that all the projects that participated in the competition deserve support and encouragement, and here comes the role of the private sector, which must have a role In adopting and supporting such projects.
